Hair Loss: The Full Truth

Elizabeth Steel, author of “The Hair Loss Cure” (Harper Collins)

Elizabeth Steel founded Hairline International: The Alopecia Patients’ Society, after she suddenly lost 90%of her hair. Her book on her own experience of sudden, savage hair loss was such a success that it has been re-printed three times since it was first published.

Hair loss (alopecia) affects thousands of people – not only men but also women and children. It is not life threatening or even physically painful – but it ruins lives.

It causes depression, breaks up marriages and wrecks careers. Some patients turn to drink or drugs. Sadly, there are even suicides.

All due to baldness - which to many people is just a joke

Hairline International provides information and support for all hair loss patients, including those who have Alopecia Areata and Alopecia Androgenetica.

Alopecia Areata

This starts as a tiny bald patch the size of a ten-penny piece and can sometimes become total loss of scalp hair or total loss of all body hair.

Alopecia Androgenetica

This appears as “male pattern baldness” in men and a diffuse thinning or “see through” hair in women.

It is estimated that as many as a third of the population suffer a hair loss condition. “Hair loss in younger women is on the increase and baldness in children is also a frightening problem” says Elizabeth Steel.
